Water Decontamination
We use microbes to prevent and clear harmful algal blooms like the ones that plague Lake Okeechobee and its associated rivers, and many of Florida’s iconic springs.
The microbes we cultivate are “Biosafety Level 1.” This classification means they are naturally-occurring, chemical-free, non-invasive environmental isolates, and utterly harmless to humans and animals alike. This technology has been used to treat impaired waters through the United States in facilities like municipal wastewater treatment facilities for over 30 years. The limitation of this technology in other industrial applications is producing sufficient volumes, which we have overcome.
Our microbes resolve these issues by competing for the same nutrition as existing microalgae; this prevents the microalgae from reaching the bloom state. Our microbes also consume nitrates and dead algae from the sediment, which significantly reduce total phosphorus.
